Australia’s most sophisticated thermally modified timber. Bold by design. Proven by science.
Character and elegance, with superior strength and stability
Merbau is recognised as one of the most versatile hardwood products in the world. Merbau’s strength and durability and natural resistance to termites make it ideal for construction and engineering applications as well as furniture, joinery and flooring.
Thermal modification of timber involves the careful heating of the timber to levels where the cellular structure of the timber is modified. The temperatures are much higher than standard kiln drying temperatures.
All starches in the timber are removed and extractives or tannins are also removed.
This results in Hēimu, an attractive, non-bleed, highly durable and high strength product perfect for decking, cladding and joinery.
Engineered for architects
who demand more.
More resistant to rot, decay, and insect attack. Naturally durable in above ground exterior applications.
No chemicals used in the modification process. Made from FSC 100% certified Merbau harvested from sustainably managed forests.
Ideal for outdoor use in harsh climates.
Less prone to warping, cupping, or swelling due to moisture changes. Little to no shrinkage or movement in situ.
Retains performance with minimal upkeep.
Darker, richer tones with a more refined, luxurious finish. Will weather to grey if left uncoated.
One timber.
Endless possibilities.
